Low productivity of ponds and reservoirs, transportation of live fish, ensuring availability of fish seeds by the time monsoon arrives were some of the issues flagged off by director fisheries, Mr P Krishna Mohan at a workshop here. The state fisheries department has set a target to double the fish production in next five years said the Minister.
Mr Bishnupada Sethi, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Fisheries and Animal Resources Development Department said that this is a unique opportunity, wherein research scientists and development administrators are meeting with a single agenda of developing fisheries in Odisha.
