Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college and a minimum of 5 years work experience in the technical issues of seafood not limited to HACCP, labeling, microbiology, sustainability, quality control, and food safety. Other degree fields considered if relevant. The ideal candidate will have expertise in the Alaska seafood industry, 3rd party certification, accreditation, ISO, Eco labels, FAO Guidance, Chain of Custody auditing, and would possess an advanced degree in a related field.Description:
This position reports to the Executive Director and is located in Juneau AK (preferred) or Seattle WA. This position manages an annual budget of $2M and works closely with the Alaska seafood industry in support of ASMI’s marketing programs in matters of seafood science, safety, quality, and sustainability. The Director’s primary responsibilities include seafood safety and quality initiatives including work with regulatory agencies, responses to technical inquiries, maintaining expertise in regulatory initiatives, assisting in public relations and marketing, and representing ASMI at international, national, and regional forums. The Director also fills a key role in seafood sustainability certification, and oversees the Alaska Responsible Fishery Management (RFM) certification program. The incumbent is regularly required to speak and make presentations on these topics to various audiences. The ability to make technical subjects understandable is paramount.Contact Name: Not Entered
